National Assembly has been urged to enact legislation imposing the death penalty for drug trafficking and consumption to safeguard the lives of citizens.

Callers on FRCN Kaduna FM’s KAKAKI program made this appeal during their contributions to the discussion led by the presenter.

They expressed concern over the negative impact of the drug trade in the country, particularly on youths, who are regarded as the leaders of tomorrow.

Alhaji Gaddafi Rigasa and Hajiya Aisha Mando emphasized the need for security agencies to intensify efforts in combating this menace to promote socio-economic development.

However, they suggested reviving industries in the Northern Geo-Political Zone as a means to curb unemployment, which contributes to drug addiction and insecurity.
