Kaduna State House of Assembly has passed the Twenty Twenty-Five Appropriation bill of the twenty-three local government councils into law.
The Speaker, Alhaji Yusuf Dahiru Liman who presided over the proceeding, said the budget has increased to over one hundred and twenty-three billion naira.
Presenting the bill in the House chamber for adoption, Chairman of House Committee on Appropriation and Implementation, Mr. Yunusa Shehu Pambegua explained that the executive had earlier submitted a budget estimate of over one hundred and fifteen billion naira for the twenty-three local government councils of the state.
Mr. Yunusa Shehu Pambegua explained that in the process of defending their budgets, the Chairmen of some local government councils demanded for addition to cover for personnel and overhead costs.
Chairman of the committee said after the local government Chairmen presented their budget performance and defended their budget, the committee realised that some local governments need adjustment in their budget size and were asked to put it in writing.
He said the budget was subsequently harmonized in collaboration with the relevant agencies and the new budget size was increased to over one hundred and twenty-three billion naira in which recurrent expenditure represents sixty percent while capital expenditure stand at forty percent.
Yunusa Shehu Pambegua advised local government councils chairmen to make judicious utilisation of the budget by running an inclusive governance for the benefit of entire people in Kaduna State.
The bill was unanimously adopted by members of the House after passing third reading and await executive assent to become a law.
