The Senior Environmental Soil Scientist, Environmental Monitoring and Research Division Metropolitan District of Chicago, IL USA, Dr. Olawale Oladeji, has said that due to the sophistication of modelling and scientific development, the United States Government and community leaders are able to predict, alert, and evacuate the citizens during emergencies.
According to him some of the emergencies includes hurricanes, floodings, wildfires, and other natural disasters.
Dr Olawale Oladeji stated this while presenting a paper virtually on the theme “Mathematical modelling and Application to Climate Change and Environmental Issues” held at the Gidan Kwano Campus of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state.
The Environmental expert, however maintained that with determination, collaborations, and supports from policy makers, Nigeria can attain such height.
Declaring the International Conference opened, Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta, commended the Math Model Research Group, Mathematics department FUT Minna for remaining steadfast on research findings thereby projecting the image of the University positively not only in Nigeria and Africa but globally.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof Uno Essang Uno, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta assured them of continued support from FUT Minna at all time to succeed.
Chairman Local Organizing Committee Math Model Research Group, Department of Mathematics FUT Minna, Prof Niniola Akinwande, wondered why academics are strangled economically due to lack of patronage and encouragement from governments, but however explained that to them at the FUT Minna their administration headed by Vice Chancellor, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta is firmly and strongly behind them.
Head of Department Mathematics Federal University of Technology Minna, Prof Abdullahi Idris Enagi, said if they are actually supported to implement the results of their research definitely they will be bold to said that there will be solutions to all the problems affecting Nigeria and by extension Africa through the application of mathematical model.
