The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) has taken a decisive step to address the issue of uncompleted buildings in the State.
During a plenary session presided over by Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore, a motion of urgent public importance was moved by member representing Kiru constituency, Usman Tasiu.
Mover of the motion highlighted the security risks posed by uncompleted buildings, which have been turned into hideouts by criminals.
Usman explained that, the proliferation of uncompleted buildings and undeveloped plots of land have distorted urban planning and beautification efforts.
“Landowners and developers should be mandated to complete their buildings within a short period”.
After careful deliberations, the House adopted the motion and urged the Kano State Government to take immediate action through the Kano State Urban Development Authority (KNUPDA).
A 7-man committee was set up to monitor the implementation of this directive and report back to the House within three weeks.
According to the Speaker, Jibril Falgore, members of the committee include the majority leader, Lawan Husaini Dala, mover of the motion, Usman Tasiu Kiru, Chairman of House Committee on Local Governments Hamza Zubairu Massu, among others.
The House adjourned its sitting to Monday, 3rd February 2025, in a motion moved by the majority leader.
