Jigawa State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its determination to work with Kano Field Office of the United Nations Children Fund UNICEF towards the successful implementation of policies and programs that will improve the living condition of children and vulnerable groups in the state.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Alhaji Sani Isyaku Abubakar, gave the assurance when received the UNICEF Kano Field Office team led by Hajiya Fatima Adamu.
He highlighted that similar partnerships with Action Against Hunger and Save the Children International have yielded positive outcomes by providing technical and advisory support to the legislature.
These efforts have significantly contributed to shaping Jigawa State’s social protection policies and other legal frameworks.
Alhaji Sani Isyaku Abubakar assured to maintain closer working relationship with UNICEF towards safeguarding the well-being of vulnerable groups by establishing a Social Protection Agency that will spearhead the implementation of the policy.
Earlier, the team leader Kano Field Office of the UNICEF Hajiya Fatima Adamu, explained that the visit was meant to solicit for more legislative support and cooperation towards the implementation of the Social Protection Policy as well as the Campaign to reduce the high rate of out of school children in Jigawa State.
