House of Representatives has called for an upward review of the 2025 budget allocation for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, along with its agencies.

This resolution was reached during the budget defense session held by the House Committee on Information and National Orientation.

Committee Chairman, Mr. Olusola Fatoba, described the proposed allocation as grossly inadequate to enable the ministry and its agencies to effectively communicate government policies and programs to the public.

He emphasized the importance of adequate funding to promote Nigeria’s image globally and attract foreign investments.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, highlighted the administration’s efforts to enhance Nigeria’s image on the global stage. He disclosed that plans had been finalized to launch the National Value Charter this year, aimed at fostering patriotism and promoting socio-economic development.

The minister urged the National Assembly to support the ministry’s mandate to enlighten Nigerians on values, government initiatives, and national unity. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to strategic engagements on national values and orientation to achieve peaceful coexistence and socio-economic growth.

The session included the minister and heads of agencies under the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
