Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained ten officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft involving missing operational items.
According to the EFCC, the detention is part of an internal investigation aimed at promoting transparency and integrity within the agency. EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered the arrests to address unethical practices among staff.
The detained officers are under interrogation to account for the missing items. This action underscores the agency’s commitment to holding its personnel accountable and upholding its core values.
“The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for,” a statement on the EFCC’s X account said on Wednesday.
The were reports, that the EFCC dismissed 27 of its officers for fraudulent activities and misconduct.
The decision was made based on the recommendation of the EFCC Staff Disciplinary Committee.
