Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised governors of the 36 States of the federation to accord priorities on food security to cushioned the effects of hardship face by Nigerians.
Obasanjo gave the advice in Sokoto state while unveiling 136 housing units purchased at the cost of one thousand eight hundred and twenty billion naira by the Sokoto state government.
The former president who was on a 2 day visit to Sokoto state noted that the current inflation rate has shortchanged the socio-economic and security development of the country.
He argued that both at federal and state levels, leaders must work towards changing the present hardship condition with a view to justified the trust reposed on them.
According to Obasanjo who also acknowledged the giant strides being achieved by Governor Ahmed Aliyu in the areas of transportation, road construction and housing projects , described him as a committed leader whose resilience and performance would repositioned the infrastructural development of the state.
The former President also applauded Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar for their spirited contributions to the development of the state .
Earlier, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto said the idea of coming up with numerous housing projects was in tune with his campaign promises to deliver human oriented projects that would prove the welfare and standards of the people in the state.
According to the governor the state government had committed enormous resources in building and completing many other similar projects across the state including youth empowerment programs and equipping hospitals with state of the art medical facilities.
