Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State says the state government has sought the approval of the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works for permission to reconstruct the Lapai-Gulu-Muye Federal Road.
The Governor stated this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim at the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the township roads in Lapai Local Government Area.
Mohammed Umar Bago, however assured of his unwavering commitment to transform the state to an enviable height, saying that Niger State Government is also seeking the support of the Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC through tax credit scheme for the road project in addition to the ones recently granted.
He said the State Government intends to renovate the General Hospital Lapai as well as revive the water works project that the Late former Governor of the State, Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure started from Katcha to Agaie and Lapai.
On his Agricultural Revolution Drive, the Governor enjoined the people to key into mechanize agriculture as the government would provide the needed support for the attainment of food sufficiency in Niger state and Nigeria.
While in Agaie Local Government Area to perform the groundbreaking of township roads, Governor Bago said plans are underway for the construction of other roads in the local government, including the road leading to Baro Port.
Umar Bago also assured them that the Agaie General Hospital would be renovated and equipped for improved healthcare service delivery, while the central market would also receive a facelift to enhance socio-economic activities.
In their separate remarks, Lapai Council Chairman, Alh. Mohammed Musa Kirikpo and the Chairman of Agaie Local Government Area, Alh, Ibrahim Sayuti Aliyu appreciated the Governor for extending his infrastructural development to rural areas and called for sustained efforts to move forward.
Both the Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, represented by Wazirin Agaie, Alhaji Abubakar Baba Alkali, and the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida, have commended the Governor for his efforts in transforming the state and assured him of their continued support at all times to succeed.
