Zamfara Assembly Pushes for Military Base in Tsafe

Zamfara State House of Assembly has called on the state government to liaise with the Federal Government and other relevant authorities to establish a permanent military base in Tsafe local government area to address the current security challenges.

This followed a request by the house majority leader, and member representing Tsafe east constituency, Bello Mazawaje and seconded by the minority leader Aliyu Ango Kagara representing Mafara South Constituency.

Shedding more light on the request, the majority leader of the house said that if a military base was to be stationed in the area, it would help improve the security situation of the area.

He also explained that bandits in the area were using different tactics to launch attacks, citing an example of a recent attack where they dressed like females and launched an attack on the people in the area.

According to him, the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is doing its best to ensure that the issue of banditry becomes a thing of the past.

In their Contributions, Members representing Birnin Magaji, Anka, Mafara South, Maru South, Gusau II, and Bukkuyum South, described Security Situation in Tsafe local government area as worry some, and called on the relevant security agencies to assist in ending the Problems in all parts of the State.

Afterward, the Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu Gummi, presiding over the session, urged the state authorities to collaborate with federal agencies and pertinent security bodies to set up a lasting military installation strategically positioned within Tsafe Local Government Area.
