The Institute for Peace Conflict and Resolution is meeting with strategic partners and stakeholders across the country in a bid to promoting peace amidst ethnic and religious differences in the country.

The Director General of the institution, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu stated this while briefing newsmen in Sokoto state.

Mr. Joseph Ochogwu said the institution which is under the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently engaging civil society organizations, security agencies, the academia, traditional and religious groups in an effort to discussing modalities and getting the needed mechanisms to achieving sustainable peace in the country.

The DG pointed out that the move was also aimed at working towards promoting understanding between the general public and all state governments with a view to delivering dividend of democracy for sustainable development.

He explained that the federal government at the Centre desired support from the general public to enable the government delivers policies and programs that have direct bearing to socioeconomic and security development in the country.

Mr. Joseph Ochogwu maintained that this can be achieved through peace and conflict resolution approach between state governments and communities across the country.

He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu eight priorities agenda hinges completely on peace, security and economic development.
