AGILE Trains Stakeholders On School Management

The Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has conducted a comprehensive training session for School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) in Zamfara North.

The training focused on school management techniques and the effective utilization of the School Improvement Grant (SIG), part of the World Bank Assisted project.

Facilitated by Mr. Buhari Alhaji Buda, the Zonal Director of Education for Kaura Namoda zone under the Zamfara State Ministry of Education, the training took place in Kaura Namoda on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024.

The primary objective of the training was to equip SBMCs with the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill their roles in implementing School Improvement Plans (SIP) and managing School Improvement Grants (SIG) in AGILE-supported schools across Zamfara state.

Participants from Shinkafi, Zurmi, Birnin Magaji, and Kaura Namoda local government areas of Zamfara State attended the training, demonstrating a broad regional participation.

Furthermore, the training aimed to guide SBMCs and other key stakeholders in school governance towards effectively managing school improvement plans and grants within the AGILE framework.

The SBMCs, comprising parents, guardians, teachers, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders, play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of schools.

The AGILE project, active in some states including Zamfara state, seeks to enhance girls’ access to quality secondary education and skills empowerment.

“One of its key strategies involves providing School Improvement Grants (SIGs) to enhance infrastructure in secondary schools, thus accommodating the increasing number of girls transitioning from basic to secondary education.” The facilitator said.

Participants expressed satisfaction with the training methodology and pledged to diligently implement the acquired skills, signaling a commitment to improving education quality in Zamfara State.

The training also took place simultaneously at Gusau, Talata Mafara and Anka zones of the state.
