UNICEF, Kaduna State Government are to partner Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in the area of teaching and learning through the use of Radio.

A specialist on Water Sanitation and Hygiene of Unicef, Theresa Pamma stated this when she led the educational team on a courtesy visit to the management of Radio Nigeria Kaduna.

The team leader Theresa Pamma said the aim of the visit was to solicit the support and partnership of Radio Nigeria Kaduna to ensure that the security challenge faced in the northern part of the country particularly north west and east does not affect the students.

She called on governments and other stakeholders on education to introduce policy and program that would protect the students and their environment.

Theresa Pamma cited an example of Kuriga abducted students who were rescued and many instances lamented that the students were phycologically abused and mentally affected and they need medical attention and also continue with their studies.

She solicited the support of the management of Radio Nigeria Kaduna to dedicate time to ensure teaching and learning continues.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Education Professor Sani Bello who was represented by the Director of Education Planning, Salisu Baba Lawal explained that the state adopted radio and television teaching and learning during COVID-19 and is ready to adopt same method to ensure that the insecurity does not affect their educational curriculum.

Responding, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Kaduna, Mallam Buhari Auwalu said it is part of corporate social responsibilities of FRCN to ensure that it contributes to educational sector in the country.

Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Kaduna, formerly known as Radio Nigeria Kaduna, was founded in 1962 and has the largest radio listenership in sub-Saharan Africa.

The station broadcasts in Hausa, English, Nupe, Fulfulde and Kanuri. The Hausa programme can be heard in Kaduna state and worldwide while it’s FMs Karama and Supreme operate within the organization.
