The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Kano field office staff Association has donated medical equipment, items and furnitures to Chiranchi Primary Healthcare (PHC), Kumbotso local government area.

Speaking during the handing over, the chairperson of UNICEF Kano field office staff association Hajiya Saudat Basheer explained that, the donation was a charity initiative.

She pointed out that Chiranchi PHC was selected , being the largest hospital providing medical services to the Kumbotso community.

The chairperson maintained that the Chiranchi primary healthcare required urgent equipment to improve the health of women and children hence the need for the donation.

“As we hand over the equipment to you we hope it will be utilized to meet the yearnings and aspirations of women and children”.

The Executive Secretary, of Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB), Dr Nasir Mahmoud, commended the UNICEF Kano field office staff association for the kind gesture.

He described the intervention as timely, saying that the PHC would commence 24-hour services to ensure quality healthcare delivery.

“Am also directed to ensure judicious utilization of the items”.

The Chairman , Ward Development Committee (WDC), Chiranchi PHC Sabi’u Ado said the corporate social responsibility by the Kano field office staff association would go a long way in uplifting health care delivery.

He reiterated the committee’s dedication to ensuring proper utilization of the donated items and urged members of the community to contribute their quota by visiting the hospital for treatment.

Radio Nigeria reports that items donated include beds, chairs, tables, patient monitors, sterilizers, and hospital stretchers among others.
