Budget Tracking: CHRICED, ICPC To Enhance Collaboration On Budget Monitoring

The Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education , CHRICED has solicited for more support from the the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC in ensuring a robust budget tracking for the well being of the nation.

Senior Programme Officer of the Centre, Mr Omoniyi Adenoye made the appeal when he lead the management team of CHRICED on a a courtesy visit to ICPC office in Kano.

He said the objectives of the visit was to solicit for more support , geared towards ensuring that constituency projects were being tracked to ensure effective service delivery.

“We acknowledged your support and sacrifice you have doing to ensure that we achieved our mandates ,we must commend your tireless efforts and we solicit for more”

Mr Omoniyi Adenoye who noted that more efforts needed be made in ensuring adequate tracking of constituency projects, expressed disappointment on misappropriation of the fund.

He added that such trend must be monitored.

“Imagine five hundreds million Naira was been used to build a palace for a traditional ruler , while Nigerians are hungry? This is ridiculous “

He added that the budget padding saga is also a disturbing trend which has to be tackled with upmost care.

In his remark , the Resident ICPC Commissioner Barrister Ibrahim Garba appreciate the visit and vowed to accord all the needed support to CHRICED geared towards achieving the stated goals.

“We are ever ready to assist you with all the needed information with a view to curtail the menace of corrupt practices and other related Offences “

Ibrahim Garba added that for success to be achieved , all hands needed to be put on deck without any bias or selfish interest .
