KWSG To Accelerate Live Stock Sector Development

Kwara state government says it has put in place measures for the accelerated development of livestock sector to improve small holders business across the state.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq stated this at the flagg- off of the Live stock Productivity and Resilience Support Project(Kwara-PRES) held in Ilorin.

He said the live stock development project will increase financial inclusion and improve the state GDP .

AbdulRazq explained that the idea will enable families have access to quality animal protein and better means of livelihood .

He noted that the project will also uplift the vulnerable and provide critical infrastructure for livestock production.

AbdulRazq called for proper coordination and synergy in the implementation of the projects to ensure its success.

In a remark , the National Coordinator, Live stock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar said the project is aimed at improving productivity and commercialisation of targeted live stocks in the country.

He said the enabling environment and peaceful nature of the state has assisted in the take off of the project.

In his address , the World Bank task team lead , Emmanuel Sene said the project will continue to focus on live stock production, provisions of abattoirs ,water supply , pastures and other areas in the value chain .

He assured the determination of the World Bank to invest in areas that has direct impact on human capital development in the state.

In her comments, Kwara state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas ,said all hand must be on deck to ensure success of the projects.

Earlier in an address of welcome, Kwara state coordinator, Live stock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kwara-PRES ) Olusoji Oyawoye expressed optimism that the projects will be implemented in accordance with specifications.

In their seperate remarks, beneficiaries of the projects, the Chairman ,National Union of Butchers ,Kwara state Chapter, Alhaji Salihu Jimoh aka (Dangote), and Alamoyo Rodiat said the projects will assist in developing their live stocks production greatly.

They however appealed to the World bank team , as well as federal and the state governments to assist them with capital to cushioned the effect of inflation that has affected their business.
