Zamfara State Government has approved the swift distribution of foodstuff across the 14 Local Government Areas as palliatives due to the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity to the Governor,Sulaiman Bala Idris, and made available to newsmen in Gusau the state capital.

He said that, the decision to distribute foodstuff is in line with the current realities in the country and the commitment of the Zamfara State Government to mitigate the effects of the hike in petrol pump price.

According to him, State Government is rolling out plans to make sure that palliative reaches the the targeted beneficiaries which to include the poor and less privileged across the state without hitches.

The Governor believes that, the distribution of food items will be the latest of his administration’s interventions considering the current realities adding that, the
Phase one of the food distribution will commence with Rice, Maize among others.

He added that, a high-powered committee have been set up for the purpose after the approval of the Governor.
