Polio Immunization: KNSG Commends Large Turn Out

Kano state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf has commended parents for coming out enmass, to present their children, for polio immunization in Kano Municipal local government area.

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, made the commendation while supervising the exercise .

This was contained in a statement signed by the Oublic Relations Officer, Kano state Ministry of Health, Ibrahim Abdullahi and made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

Represented by the Director General Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), Professor Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad,he explained that, they had visited various wards across the the local government area, to see the level of compliance.

The Commissioner also appreciated the staff for remaining steadfast in addressing issues and conducting the exercise efficiently, urging them to remain committed till the end of the campaign.

Dr. Abubakar thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for giving all the necessary support to the health of Kano residents.

“The exercise is well planned. People are adequately mobilized to support the campaign. Government of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has made all provisions right from the inception up to this level. We have mitigation measures to address any arising problem”

He however, stressed that, some of the mitigation measures includes clusters set aside for addressing issues that may arise, team of supervisors, and vehicles to convey people to difficult to reach areas.

Dr. Abubakar appreciated the district head of the area, for attending evening review meetings, and expressed concern over low involvement of officials at the local government council into the exercise, charging them to buckle up, in supporting the campaign, to achieve the desired objectives.

Giving update on the logistics received, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator of the area, Aliyu Jinjiri Kiru, pointed out that, they have received 97,700 nOPV vaccines, 83,750 fIPV vaccines, as well as 82,800 pieces of needles.

“we have immunized 88,950 children with 45,505 nOPV vaccines and 43,445 fIPV vaccines, representing 55% and 54% respectively in 704 settlements in the local government area”

The supervising team consists of DG Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency Pharmacy Ghali Sule, DG Private Health Institution Management Agency Prof. Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad, Directors from the Ministry of Health, among others.
