Kebbi NLC, TUC Join Fuel Subsidy Protest

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC in Kebbi State, has joined the nation Wide protest over the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

Addressing protesters, at the Deputy Governors office in Birnin Kebbi, the Acting Chairman of the Union, Comrade Kilani Abdulwaliyu, reiterated the readiness of the union to resist every action of the government to inflict suffering on Kebbi State workers and masses.

“we gather here to kick against the current hardship experienced As citizens of this country, you cannot continue treating us poorly, imposed hardship on us and expect a miracle from us”.

Comrade Abdulwaliyu, demanded for immediate release of palliatives to cushion the effect of Subsidy removal on kebbi state workers, provision of transportation allowance for essential workers as well as creation of the state transport system to ease the hardship of transportation within and outside the state.

He also demanded for mmediate review of working hours for workers in the state to minimize transportation costs.

“Comrades, we will not allow our members to be turned mindlessly into beasts of burden any longer. We will stand together as workers and as a people to protect our rights to decent work and social Justice”.

Letter was presented to the state Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar at his office.

Prior to these, team of Policemen were deployed to various strategic places in the State Capital to forestall any brake down of law and order.
