Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has slashed transportation fare on state-owned transport system by 50% to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The Governor also hinted at a plan by commercial transporters to slash prices by 25% across the metropolis in solidarity with government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, made this known after the State Security Council Meeting on Monday.

He said all transportation vehicles belonging to the Lagos Area Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) will from Wednesday slash their fares by 50% and expressed optimism that it would help to lessen the burden of the people.

The Governor also pledged more buses for civil servants to aide their movement and reduce their cost of transportation.
