Kebbi Government Awards N9.4B Road Rehabilitation Contract

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of roads in Birnin Kebbi town worth 9.4 billion Naira.

Signing the official contract agreement at Government House Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris said, the rehabilitation and upgrading of roads in Birnin Kebbi metropolis, would reduce erosion challenges.

“Today is the official signing of contract for the rehabilitation and upgrading of city centre roads in Binrin Kebbi, the state is our state and we have seen things by ourselves; therefore, we want to make the state a befitting state capital”.

Comrade Idris, appealed to the construction firm to abide by the contractual agreements and execute the work according to specifications.

He assured that government would monitor and ensure full compliance of the work saying, in the next two weeks, another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the completion of the uncompleted State Secretariat Complex in Gwadangwaji area in Birnin Kebbi would be signed.

The Governor stated that, similar road projects would be extended to the South and North Senatorial Districts as the government will do everything possible to be fair and just to all the people in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Works and Transport, Alhaji Sa’adu Musa-Sakaba, said the projects comprised, asphalts, overlaying of the dual carriage way from NNPC Mega station to Rima roundabout, NDLEA roundabout up to Haliru Audu roundabout and from Haliru Audu roundabout up to AP 2 roundabout as well as provision of solar street lights along the five major roads to be affected by rehabilitation of drainages.

The General Manager of the construction firm, Ammar Nouri, assured to adhere to the contract specifications and completion of the project within the stipulated time of 18 months.
