Zulum Appoints Former Minister As SSG, Re-appoints Chief Of Staff

The Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved the appointment of former minister of state for agriculture and rural development, Malam Bukar Tijani as Secretary to the State Government.

The Governor has also reappointed Professor Isa Hussaini Marte as Chief of Staff.

This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau.

The statement notes that Professor Zulum considered Malam Tijani as an experienced personality who served as minister from July, 2011 to September, 2013 and as Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

The newly appointed SSG hails from Dikwa local government area of Borno State and  holds a Master of Science in Tropical Agricultural Development from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.

Similarly, the reappointed Chief of Staff Professor Isa Marte had served as Governor Zulum’s chief of staff from August 17, 2020 to May 29, 2023.

The Professor had previously served as commissioner for Higher Education from August 2019  to August 2020, overseeing commissioner of health in 2021 while being chief of staff.

The Governor congratulated Bukar Tijjani and Professor Marte on their appointments and expressed confidence that they would contribute their quota to achieve vision of repositioning the state.
