Borno State Government Releases 62m Naira Scholarship Allowances For Students

The Borno State Government has released the sum of sixty two million naira as scholarship allowances to indigenes of the state admitted into Nigeria Law School, foreign students and those undergoing French Language Course in Cotonou, Benin Republic. 

At a media briefing in Maiduguri, Executive Secretary state Scholarship Board Malam Bala Isa said the amount also covers construction of National Union of Borno state Students NUBOSS Secretariat and a vehicle. 

Malam Isa explained that the second batch comprising of nineteen students across six Nigerian Law school campuses will receive 9.5 million naira, 7.5 million for the French students, about 30 million for foreign students while construction of Secretariat and the Union bus will gulp fifteen million naira.

” His Excellency, Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the sum of 62,030, 338 naira as scholarship allowances for batch B of the law students, we have already paid the first batch last year and today we paying the second batch, they are 19 in number” Bala said.

The Executive Secretary remarked that the state government will sponsor Borno indigenes who are interested to study French language in any part of the world to promote the use of the language in the state which borders three French speaking countries. 

He expressed gratitude to Governor Babagana Zulum for the gesture, urging the students to be more committed to their studies.

President National Union of Borno state Students NUBOSS Dr. Sadiq Wajiro lauded Governor Zulum for prompt release of the allowances and for approving the construction of the Union Secretariat.
