Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has justified the demolition exercise embarked upon by his administration since his assumption of office on May 29.

Governor Yusuf said during the Sallah homage by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and members of the emirate council that the demolition was done to recover public properties.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Hisham Habib, Governor Yusuf intends to restore public properties unjustly acquired by individuals.

The Governor thanked the Emir and the emirate council for their visit.

He noted that his administration paid the NECO fees amounting to N1.5 billion for 55,000 secondary school students.

The Governor said the street lights were restored, and cases of phone theft in the Kano metropolis has reduced drastically.

Responding, the Emir thanked the Governor and assured him of his readiness to offer guidance on the development of the state.

He also asked the government and wealthy individuals to help the less fortunate, particularly in light of the recent fuel subsidy removal.
