The new Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA has assumed duty.

At the handing and taking over ceremony in Kaduna, Major General John Ochai solicited the support of military and civilian staff towards taking the Academy to greater heights.

While assuring of operating an open door policy, the Commandant disclosed that he would accord the needed attention to the training of cadets with a view to producing quality junior officers for the Armed Forces.

Major General Ochai congratulated the immediate past commandant for a highly distinguished career in the military and wished him a happy retirement life.

In his valedictory speech, immediate past commandant, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf attributed the successes recorded under his watch to the support he enjoyed from the immediate past defence minister, service chiefs as well as former commandants of the Academy who laid the solid foundation.

He advised cadets to be courageous, dedicated, loyal and desist from professional misconduct.

Major General Yusuf congratulated the new commandant on his appointment, and implored staff and cadets to accord him the maximum support in the discharge of his duty.

Highpoints of the event were parade and march past by students of Nigeria Military School Zaria, cadets of the Academy as well as pulling out ceremony in honour of the former commandant.
