The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Abubakar Rasheed has voluntarily resigned from the Commission.

He is to continue lecturing at the Bayero University, Kano from where he was appointed.

Professor Rasheed who stated this to newsmen on Monday in Abuja said he had spent seven years as the Executive Secretary of NUC.

Meanwhile the National Universities Commission has issued Licence to the Kogi State Government for the establishment of a new University know as Kogi State University, Kabba.

Professor Abubakar Rasheed presented the licence to the State Governor, Yahaya Bello in Abuja, said the development brings the number Universities in the state to three.

Govenor Bello, who led top functionaries from the State to the Commission, said the idea behind the creation of the university was to provide more access to tertiary education.
