Kano Assembly Declares State Of Emergency On Phone Snatching, Thuggery

Kano state House of Assembly (KNHA), has declared a state of emergency on phone snatching, thuggery, and other criminal activities in the state.

This was sequel, to an urgent motion of public importance, moved by the majority leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini representing Dala constituency.

According to him, some miscreants engage in thuggery, phone snatching, shop lifting, drug abuse and other unlawful acts, capable of disturbing the peaceful atmosphere, within the metropolitan local government areas.

In their separate contributions, members representing, Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado, Ungoggo, Dambatta, Garko, Takai and Kabo, explained that, if care is not taken, the security situation might escalate, as gangs are terrorising and injuring Kano residents.

They noted that, there’s the need for the state security council, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to holistically review and come up with modalities, to address the manage.

After careful deliberations, the House adopted the motion, and charged the state government, to do everything possible in fishing out perpetrators, bring them to book, and bring an end to criminal activities.

In another development, member representing Takai Alhaji Musa Ali Kachako, had submitted a letter seeking for approval, to present a private bill titled Kano state health security bill 2023.

The House adjourned it’s sitting, in a motion moved by the majority leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala.
