Zulum Re-elected Governor of Borno State, Promises Success Consolidation

The Independent National Electoral Commission-INEC has declared the incumbent Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum as winner of the March 18 Governorship election. 

Announcing the result at the state collation Centre in Maiduguri, the Returning officer who is also the Vice Chancellor Federal University Wukari, Professor Jude Rabo said Professor Zulum polled 545,543 to defeat his closest contender Mohammed Jajari of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who scored 82, 147 votes.

“Umar Babagana of the APC having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected “, Professor Rabo declared. 

According to the Returning officer, the re-elected Governor won in all the twenty seven local government areas of the state. 

At the end of the exercise, agents of Peoples Democratic Party, Bukar Petrol refused to sign on the results sheets alleging that the election was marred by irregularities. 

In his acceptance speech, Governor Zulum dedicated his victory to Almighty Allah and people of Borno state. 

He promised to consolidate on the achievements so far recorded, stressing that the next four years, the state will witness more development projects. 

“We shall ensure that Borno is more secure than ever before, invest in modern Agriculture, growth and development of education, health and provide job opportunities for women and youth ” Zulum said. 

Meanwhile, the APC has clinched all the twenty eight state assembly positions.
