Serious tension in Jalingo, Taraba state capital as sporadic shootings in the air was heard around INEC office and police headquarters in Jalingo on Monday morning 20th March 2023.

Reason for the shootings is not yet clear but unconfirmed sources said it was misunderstanding between Soldiers and the police spotted at the INEC office.

Our Correspondent who was an eye witness saw business owners closing shops, people who are around the area were rushing to enter their houses, while some streets are deserted.

Our Correspondent, however, observed that some parents on hearing the incident rushed to bring back their children home from schools.

As at the time of filing this report, Police spokesman, SP Usman Abdullahi Jada did not answer two calls put to his phone nas reply to the text message sent to him by our Correspondent.

Meanwhile, the Military and the Police as well as the DSS have called for a joint Press briefing to be held at the DSS office in Jalingo at 11am.
