The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has promised to look into the issue of alleged scam, against a woman named Halima Ibrahim popularly known as Leema.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero made the promise, while addressing the women who staged a peaceful protest to the emirs palace, to express their grievances.

According to him, Kano emirate council would do everything possible, within it’s powers to ensure justice for the aggrieved women.

The emir directed representative of Kano emirate council, to visit the Kano state shari’a court Kofar Kudu presided by Khadi Ibrahim Sarki Yola, to investigate the issues raised by the group.

Earlier, a group of business women had accused one Halima Ibrahim of collecting over 500 million naira, on different occasions for a joint order of household items from foreign countries.

Reports indicate that, trouble started when a large percentage of goods ordered were not delivered and when they requested for refund, Leema rushed to Kano sharia’a court kofar Kudu, to get a restricting order against the group.

Some of those affected who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Maryam Uba Jalli, Fatima Abdulkarim noted that, some were divorced by their husbands, others arrested while many have lost their lives due to tension.

They noted that, the money given to Halima was sourced from customers with the promise that, goods would be given to them after few months, saying that, the promise could not be fulfilled after two years.

“She later demanded for clearance fee after placing the order, claiming that uncleared goods would be sold if the fee is not received within a short period.

” Leema had kept pledging to distribute the goods but after some months it became obvious that she defrauded us”.

” All efforts to get their money back proved abortive,” they decried.

They expressed satisfaction with the warm reception by Kano emirate council, and appealed to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to come to their aid.

Barrister Abubakar Tanko is the lawyer representing the business women, he explained that, the court had striked out the suit against the women, adding that they would seek for justice elsewhere.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the group comprising over 400 women had paid huge amount of money to Halima Ibrahim, who opened a WhatsApp group of 30 women multiple times to receive order for toys and house hold items from China and other countries, which she refused to deliver, instead approached a Kano state shari’a court sitting at Kofar Kudu, to restrain them from harassing her over their money.
