The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is to conduct senatorial and House of Representative elections in nine polling units in Ganaja, Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi state.

Speaking with our correspondent, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Doctor Gabriel Longpet said the elections which are to be conducted on Sunday is to allow those that could not vote on the twenty-fifth as a result of the unavailability of ballot papers and challenges with the BVAS, to do so.

Dr Longpet stated that elections in Lokoja and the Western part of Kogi state were peaceful compared to reports of a series of attacks, destruction of Electoral materials and snatching of ballot boxes across Kogi Central and Kogi East which were described as unfortunate.

On actions to be taken in areas reportedly attacked, Dr Longpet said he was waiting for an official report from the situation room to report to the INEC headquarters to know the next course of action.
