Zamfara NSCDC Interfaces With Journalist Ahead Of Elections

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps-NSCDC, Zamfara State Command has appealed to journalists to avoid fake news to promote peace and unity in the state.

State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Bello Mu’azu made the plea during a special Media chat organized by the command themed “Role of Media in 2023 general elections”.

Commandant Mu’azu who interfaced with the Journalists extensively said, the purpose of the media chat was to seek information from the professional journalists on their vast experience about challenges encountered during previous elections with a view to preparing officers and men of the Command on how best to handle the exercise smoothly.

Mr Mu’azu warned journalists against fake news, which he said can generate unrest and jeopardize the entire process.

He urged them to verify their facts before going to the Press.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zamfara state council comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare commended the effort of the NSCDC Zamfara State Command under the state commandant Mu’azu for organizing the media chat which was first of its kind in the history of the state.

He assured the Commandant of their commitment to maintain the existing cordial relationship between journalists and the NSCDC in the state, saying as key stakeholders in the elections, journalists will ensure professionalism before, during and after the elections and called on security operatives to cooperate with journalists for better results.

The special Media chat was attended by Zonal Secretary of the NUJ Zone ‘A’ comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura and other journalists from all the media existing in the state.
