KNHA Passes 2023 Appropriation Bill With Over N23 Billion Increase

Kano state House of Assembly (KNHA) has passed the 2023 proposed budget with an increase of over 23 billion naira.

The passage of the budget was sequel to the adoption of a report presented by the Chairman House standing committee on appropriation, Alhaji Abba Ibrahim Garko.

In addition to deliberations in the committee of the whole house, and third reading of the bill, by the clerk, Alhaji Garba Bako Gezawa.

“A bill for a law to pass the Kano state appropriation of 2023 to the tune of #268,197,731 and other matters”.

Recall that, on 4th November 2022, Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje presented an aggregate sum of N 245,31,516.08 as the proposed budget, for 2023 fiscal year before the state House of Assembly.

The proposal tagged: Budget of consolidation and prosperity II: witnessed an increase of over 23 billion naira which stood at N268,197,731.

Similarly, the House had adopted a report, in respect of the 44 local government councils 2023 budget proposal.

Presenting the report, Chairman House standing committee on appropriation, Alhaji Abba Ibrahim Garko explained that, the House received a letter from the state ministry for local governments, on the proposed LGAs budget on Wednesday 16th November 2022.

He highlighted that, according to the established tradition, six sub committees were set up to facilitate the smooth deliberations on the proposed budget pegged at N251,582,364,239,14.

After careful deliberations and scrutiny by the lawmakers, the House adopted the report and adjourned it’s sitting to Monday, January 16, 2022.
