Christmas: Police Beef Up Security Of Churches, Bans Fireworks In Zamfara

In a bid to ensure smooth celebration of Christmas and New year in Zamfara state, Police has deployed additional security Operatives to churches, recreational centers, highways and other vulnerable places in the state.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Mohammed Shehu in a press statement made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau, saying Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf has posed to ensure hitch free celebration of Christmas and the new year.

SP Shehu said the police command under the leadership of CP Kolo Yusuf, who assured the general public that security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the celebrations also felicitated with christians community in the state and wishes them merry Christmas and happy new year.

He noted that CP Kolo has embarked on confidence building patrol of Major Highways, commencing from Gusau – Mafara – Sokoto road to further strengthen the existing security on the route aimed at ensuring safety and security of commuters and other road users.

The CP who also tasked Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs to adopt same strategy in their respective jurisdictions warned members of the public especially parents and guardians against sale and use of fireworks, knockouts and fire crackers in the State which have been banned.

According to the PPRO, CP Kolo Yusuf charged parents and guidance to ensure their wards remain law abiding and call on road users to be careful and vigilant while driving, obey all traffic rules and cooperate with security agencies before, during and after the celebrations.
