Bandits Kill Village Head in Niger

Bandits have abducted and killed the Village Village Head of Mulo Community in Mashegu local government Council of Niger state Malam Usman Garba.

He was abducted yesterday at Mall community along with three other victims by the gunmen where he was grusomely murdered and body was left behind.

State Commissioner of Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs Mr Emmanuel Umar announced this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on update of security situation in the state.

Mr Emmanuel Umar explained that though the security situation across Niger state has improved there are still threats and pockets of attacks in some communities, especially in three local government councils of Mashegu, Mariga, and Kontagora. 

According to Umar, Mashegu has witnessed a series of attacks over the past two weeks stressing that the murder of the Village Head of Malo community was the height of the recent attacks.

Mr Emmanuel Umar however said that the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has directed all security agencies to come out in full force to flush out the terrorists and completely eradicate insecurity in these local government areas to enable Nigerlites enjoy a hitch free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

 He further explained that the security agencies would increase patrol and visibility to curb any attack or terror incident during the festive period.

” We are providing a call number for communities and residents. If there is any movement or sighting of any act of terror or any criminals, the communities should dial 07031964389.”

Mr Emmanuel Umar said the state Governor has reassured Nigerlites that he is fully committed to the protection of their lives and properties and advised them to report any suspicious movement to security agencies for prompt action.
