Customs Seizes Smuggled Items Worth N165M In Niger

The Niger Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made a seizure of some smuggled items and vehicles with duty paid value of over one hundred and sixty five million naira.

Customs Area Controller Mr Busayo Kadejo who stated this while showcasing the seized items before Newsmen in Minna also promised to make the Niger Kogi Area Command a no go zone for smugglers.

Mr Busayo Kadejo explained that prominent amongst the seized items are fifteen vehicles of various makes valued at over one hundred and forty one million naira nine thousand one hundred and sixty pieces of pharmaceuticals four bales and fourteen thousand six hundred and and fourth pieces of imported soap.

Others are two thousand and seventy pieces of matchetes thirty two thousand eight hundred and fifty canned sardine fish and one thousand seven hundred and and ninety pieces of jack knives among others.

Mr Busayo Kadejo however said the Niger Kogi Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has for the month of November under review  realised over twenty two million naira as revenue stressing that his officers and men are poised to surpass their annual revenue target.

According to him the command is able to achieve this successes due to improved capacity and logistics received from the Comptroller General of Nigeria  Customs Service Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali retired and his management team.

Mr Busayo Kadejo however reaffirmed that the Federal Government policy of border closure is still in force at Banana in Niger state stressing that what ever they are doing is backed by law of Customs and Excise Management Act Cap C45 LFN two thousand and four as ammended.

The Controller NIGER Kogi Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service while assuring officers and men of improved welfare package also added that they will sustain the fight against snuggling with renewed vigour and determination.
