Trade Union Congress (TUC) Zamfara state council has elected new executives to manage affairs of the congress for next four years.
The new executives were elected unopposed as consensus candidates with comrade Saidu Mudi as Chairman for the second term during the state Delegates Conference which took place today (Monday) in Gusau, Zamfara state Capital.
While declaring the occasion open, the Zamfara state Head of service who was represented by his permanent secretary, Malam Yakubu Sani Haidara said the state government was committed to support labour unions with a view to achieving their mandates.
He said recently, the state government has approved the Thirty Thousand Naira minimum wage for the state civil servants in a bid to fulfill promise to ensure their welfare.
Earlier speaking, the National President of the TUC, Engineer Festus Osifo who was represented by the Deputy Secretary General, Hassan Salihu Anka had requested the state government to provide a befitting office accommodation for the TUC in Zamfara.
This he said would enable the state council with new initiative of modernizing the congress nationwide and also congratulated the two labour centers for making the thirty thousand Naira minimum wage a reality in Zamfara State.
In a goodwill message, chairperson of the Nigeria labour Congress (NLC) Zamfara Council, Comrade Sani Halliru said the duo centers would continue to work in synergy to fight for worker’s rights and ensure their welfare.
He then described the reelected chairman Comrade Saidu Mudi as an agile and a strategic unionist who leads by example.
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected chairman of the TUC, Comrade Saidu Mudi pledged to move Zamfara TUC to a greater heights, saying capacity building, welfare of members and ensuring new TIC would be on the front banner of his second term administration and appealed to members to accord him all necessary support to enable him excel.
The newly elected executives of the TUC Zamfara state Council include, Comrade Saidu Mudi as Chairman; Kulu Bello, Vice chairperson; Tijjani Adamu, Financial secretary; Bello Zakari, Auditor; Rabi’u Sabo, secretary; Aisha Sambo, women leader; Aminu Shehu Danfulani, Treasurer and Isaiah Audu as public relations officer.
Others are, Aliyu Abubakar wazoji as assistant secretary; Hussaina Aliyu, secretary women commission; Mansur Mustapha, Ex-officio; Samaila Abdullahi Deputy I; Musa Isah, assistant Public Relations Officer;Yusuf Marafa, assistant financial secretary and Tajudeen Afolabi as assistant auditor.
The new executives were elected during the 4th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the union and they are to serve for a tenure of four years.
In attendance during the conference were the state comptroller Federal Ministry of works, pioneer chairman of the TUC in Zamfara Comrade Mansur Mustapha Kaura among other personalities.
