People’s Democratic Party,PDP Zamfara State Chapter, has cried out over the indiscriminate arrest of its members across the state.
The Acting Chairman of the party in the State, Alhaji Mukhtar Lugga announced this while addressing journalists on the political happenings in the state.
Luggah who lamented that, the state government in collaboration with some security agencies atheir membersre arresting their members and detaining them in correctional centers in the state.
He also explained that, recently, the senatorial candidate of Zamfara central under the flag bearer of the party, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis who was arrested and taken to court on the allegation of destruction of APC billboards in the state.
Alhaji Ikhira Bilbis was the former Minister of National Communication Commission and State Mininster of information stringent conditions were placed for his bail which cannot be met.
The Actimg Party Chairman added that, Ambassador Mairiga Muhammad has been in prison for over a month all in an attempt to demoralized PDP in the state in addition to several party supporters
Lugga said democracy is being threatened in Zamfara by the action of the state government with the connivance of some security agencies.
He called on the Inspector General of police, Director General Security Services, Commandant General Civil Defence Corps to call their men to order as they are working with the state government to deny the PDP its political right to interact with the electorate freely.
Luggah also appealed to President Muhammad Buhari , INEC and all relevant stakeholders including international communities as matter of urgency to intervene as democracy is currently under threat in Zamfara.

According to him, PDP is a law abiding party and appeals to its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as the leadership is doing everything humanly possible to overcome the situation.
