Court Orders Arrest Of Army Chief 

High Court Sitting in Minna, Niger State has issued warrant of arrest for the Chief of Army Staff General Faruk Yahaya for alleged contempt of court.

Also to be arrested include commandant training and Doctrine Command Minna Major General Stevenson Olugbenga Olabanji for committing similar offence.

Presiding judge Justice Halima Abdulmalik stated that the order followed hearing of a motion brought before Minna High Court in pursuant of order forty two rule ten of the Niger State High Court Civil procedure 2018.

Justice Halima Abdulmalik ruled that the order is commuting the Chief of Army Staff, General Faruk Yahaya and the Commandant Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC Minna Major General Stevenson Olugbenga Olabanji to be kept at the Minna correctional custody for contentions of order of this court on twelvth of October this year.

According to her the two suspects are to remain in the custody until they purge themselves of the contempt.

Justice Abdulmalik however adjourned the case to the 8th of December for continuation.

Similarly, a federal high court in Abuja sentenced the inspector-general of police, IGP Usman Baba, to three months in prison for disobeying a court order.

Mobolaji Olajuwon, the presiding judge, issued the ruling on Tuesday, following a suit filed by Patrick Okoli, a former police officer who claims he was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigerian police force.
