Women in Nigeria have been encouraged to actively participate in
politics and take capacity development serious as it pertains to
governance processes in the country.


This was stated by the project lead,women political empowerment
project Zugwai Tagwai in Crispan Hotel at Rayfield Jos the Plateau
state capital.


The validation meeting was organized by the Dimidari foundation in collaboration with the UN women and the Norwegian council on how to increase women’s participation in politics, political parties and governance process.


The project lead, women political empowerment project Zugwai Tagwai explained that this validation exercise will help identify the capacity needs in their political parties as well as their structures so as to bridge identified gaps.


She further explained that the outcome of the meeting will help to build a better crop of women who will actively participate in politics and governance processes.


The Dimidari foundation and the UNwomen are working out a project that focuses on politics and how women have participated politics and political parties especially when it comes to do with political positions, asked as active politics and governance processes.


This is to enable them build capacity and technical support
The project lead for women political empowerment project reiterated that the validation meeting was as a result of the survey carried out with key informants,interviews with political appointees as well as questioniars as women leaders of their opinions about women participation in politics.


Radio Nigeria interacted with some of the participants and the shared a common opinion of the government implementing the 35% quarter and giving and their political parties giving a level playing ground.


They however called on women to actively participate and also contribute their quarter in the development of the country.
