Kaduna State government has launched the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal fund as part of effort to commemorate fallen and living heroes and heroines of the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in the service of their Fatherland.

Deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe while launching the Emblem in Kaduna, called on Nigerians to continue appreciating the giant stride of the armed forces in maintaining peace within and outside the country.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe said, many soldiers died in battles while a large number got injured.

“These were done so that the world and Nigeria can be safe and peaceful for us and our children. We are therefore enjoying relative peace in Nigeria today as a result of the earlier sacrifices made by our soldiers gone and alive”

“We must therefore continue to show them and their surviving families that we appreciate their sacrifices. One way of doing this is marking this annual armed forces remembrance day dedicated to the memory of their sacrifices and their gallant efforts for the rest of us”.

According to her, many of the surviving soldiers and their families are living in difficult situations, and urged Nigerians to make their life better by contributing funds through the purchase of the appeal fund emblem.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe maintained that, debilitating living conditions of retired soldiers and their families are never motivating images for the current serving soldiers who desire to put in their best for the country.

“In confronting the ravaging internal war with boko haram, other terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, many men/women have fallen and more lives of our soldiers are at stake”.

The Deputy governor called on all citizens to support the war on terror by donating generously to the fallen soldiers.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legionners, Mr Danjuma represented by Mr Bala Adamu said the launch of the Emblem marks the beginning of the 2023 Armed forces Remembrance Day celebration.

He appealed to Kaduna State government to provide the state legionners with an official vehicle to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

The Chairman also extended his gratitude to the officers and men of the Armed forces, paramilitary, private organisations and individuals for their support to the legionners.
