Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ilorin chapter have staged a peaceful protested against what they called casualization of intellectual workers in the country.

Speaking with journalists at a news conference jointly address addressed by the former ASUU chairman of the university and a council member of the union, Professor Rasheed Adeoye, and the secretary of the union , Olatunji Abdulganiyu, described half salaries reportedly paid by government to members of the union for October as unacceptable.

The Union leaders said as law abiding citizens members have heeded the directive of the court and resumed to their duty posts while the substantive matter is being heard.

They expressed displeasure that after resumption from strike government decided to pay members half salaries.

The Union leaders noted that the law of the land is also clear on the issue , adding that the National Industrial Court made it clear in a landmark judgment in 2020 that full workers can not be paid half salary.
