Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has declared  Thursday, 10th i November, as public holiday for the conduct of local government councils election.

This is contained in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna by Secretary to the State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane.

It explained that the public holiday is to enable citizens of the state to actively participate by going to the polling units and cast their ballots without any hitch.

The statement said during the election period, markets and offices shall be closed and that movement of persons and vehicles restricted, except for those on essential duties.

It further added that Governor Sani Bello has directed all security agencies in the State to ensure violence free elections, stressing that Government is committed to safeguarding and guaranteeing a hitch-free process.
