KNSG To Distribute 8 Million ITNs, Conduct Yellow Fever Vaccination

Kano state government in collaboration with development partners will distribute insecticide treated nets across the forty four local government areas of the state.

Commissioner for Health Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this during a press briefing in Kano.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the ministry and National Malaria Elimination Program in collaboration with Society for Family Health, is implementing the 2022 ITN Campaign in Kano.

He said during the campaign, over eight million insecticide treated nets would be distributed to households.

“The 2022 campaign intends to distribute Insecticide treated nets Door to Door to all households free-of-charge across the 44 Local Government areas from 10th to 22nd November 2022.”

“Already over 20,000 adhoc personnel have been trained and over 90 percent of the nets were delivered to over 3,600 designated distribution hubs across the 484 political wards in the state”

The commissioner further said Kano state ministry of health in collaboration with National Primary Health Care Development Agency, partner agencies and other key stakeholders would vaccinate children from 9 months to 44 months with Yellow Fever Vaccine in the month of November 2022 in two phases across the state.

Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa commended Kano state government for its efforts to improve the health sector in the state.

He applauded the commitment of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and development partners for their support in improving the healthcare sector in the state.
