National Gallery of Art has planned to introduce the Islamic Arts Exhibition in the Northern part of the country.

The Zonal Coordinator North-West of the organization Mrs Mundung Bridget Akamai stated this during an Art Exhibition in Kaduna.

Mrs Mundung Bridget stated that an Islamic exhibition would go a long way in promoting Islamic calligraphy and maintaining the rich culture in the region through the display of visual works of Art.

Arts appreciation in the North is low compared to Western Nigeria, so doing this will stir up the interest of the people because this is something dear to them, Mrs Mundung said.

She explained that the National Gallery of Art as a Federal Government Agency had been at the forefront of encouraging artists and their works where the tradition and culture of the people were captured in such works of Art.

The Zonal Coordinator however appealed to Nigerians to participate in buying and storing arts due to its artistic nature and economic benefits

.

In a remark, the Emir of Zazzau Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali who was delighted about the proposed Islamic exhibition added that the Palace would build a world-class museum where the arts and heritage of the people would be preserved for future generations.

People should be able to remember thier past and history accurately and not the distorted narrative that is been done by individuals of other climes who have no business speaking about such cultures‘,he added.

His Royal Highness stressed that the Zazzau Emirate was working round the clock to give a true account of the People of Zazzau and their heritage, thereby calling on all to discard the distorted narrative going about on the international scene as captured in some movies.

Radio Nigeria reports that the Exhibition which will end on Thursday has the theme’ Stories of Kaduna’ aimed at showcasing the talents and creativity of young and professional artists in the state.

Highlights of the event include traditional dance , display of arts and artifacts among others.
