Niger Commence Payment Of Entitlements To Retirees

Niger state government has commenced the payment of one billion naira pension gratuities to one hundred and seventy eight pensioners across the state and local governments.

Director General Pension, Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska who stated this while addressing Newsmen said no pensioner will be paid without being thoroughly screened.

Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska said failure of any pensioner to present all valid documents required will automatically  rule him out of  the exercise in line with accountability and transparent guidelines.

Of the amount , he said five hundred million naira will be paid to retirees from state while another five hundred million naira goes to local government pensioners.

According to him , the state government was indebted to the tune of fourteen billion naira retirement benefits and will do everything possible to settle the

debts.

The pension Boss said Niger state government is owing two billion naira death gratuities, in addition to one point three billion naira augmentation for pensioners that moved from old to the new pension scheme.

Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska said the payment will continue till every pensioner received his entitlements.
