Troops of One Division of the Nigerian Army on operation forest sanity have conducted clearance operation at Maidaro, Kagi hill, Kusharki and Anguwan Madaki in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.

In a statement by spokesperson of the Army, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu says in a fierce encounter that ensued, four bandits were neutralised, forcing others to flee in disarray.

In a separate operation conducted by another fighting patrol team of the Division, troops along Sabon Birnin-Zartake , Ungwan Lima Riyawa and Tungan Madaki general area, intercepted fleeing bandits from Kagi hill with close support by Air force platforms, where three terrorists were neutralized.

It maintains that during the clearance operation, troops recovered two AK47 rifles, one automatic pump action gun with three cartridges, six dane guns, three locally fabricated pistols with nine mm rounds and four motorcycles.

It notes that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya commends the troops for their gallantry and urges them not to relent until terrorism and other criminalities are brought to an end in the North-West region.

It adds that the General Officer Commanding One Division and Force Commander, Operation Whirl Punch, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja appeals to all law abiding citizens to continue to support troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information that will assist in the fight against criminal elements.
