Kano State : Unknown Persons Attack Community, Burn 10 Houses

Residents of Dan Jamfari community, Barbaji village, Rogo local government area, were thrown into deep sorrow following a midnight attack by unknown persons.

Reports indicate that, over two hundred people invaded the community at night where they went from house to house claiming to be looking for their lost motorcycle.

Narrating the incident, 45 year old Malam Magaji Abdullahi who spoke on behalf of the victims said, the unknown persons ransaked his house carrying dangerous weapons such as axes, sticks and cutlasses.

He stressed that, the attackers tried to struck him with an axe in the presence of his family members, when he climbed a tree after he refused to produce his son

whom they alleged to have stolen their motorcycle.

Malam Magaji explained that, the next day, the attackers came back and set his entire house on fire while his family members escaped to his family house.

He maintained that, they carted away food items, chickens, turkey, farming equipment and destroyed ten houses within the community.

“We are suspecting our neighbors from Gidan Hudu community for the attack, those arrested were set free on bail, we are appealing to authorities to come to our aid “

In his remarks, District Head of Rogo who doubles as Wanban Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Maharazu Muhammad described the incident as unfortunate.

Alhaji Muhammad who was represented by his secretary Alhaji Bashir Musa Tsoho, said the emir of Karaye Dr. Ibrahim II Abubakar had rendered all the necessary assistance to the victims and also reported the unfortunate incident to the state government.

Earlier in his remarks, Executive Secretary Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Saleh Aliyu Jili said they were at Dan Jamfari to symphatise with the victims, and deliver relief items on behalf of governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

He however highlighted that, the state government would no leave stone unturned, in fishing out the perpetrators to face the wrath of the law.

Dr. Saleh Aliyu Jili reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the protection of the lives and properties of its citizens.

“They were attacked for no reason,their houses were burnt and utilities destroyed”

The executive secretary noted that, properties such as roofing sheets, cement, food items, clothing materials,cups, plates and buckets were handed over to the district head of Rogo, for onward distribution to the 10 victims.

He charged residents of the community to live in peace and harmony for the development of the state and nation in general.
