Immunization is one of the most impactful and cost-effective public health interventions available, that averts over 4 million deaths annually, in addition to offering protection against preventable diseases such as diarrhoeal, dehydration and hospitalization.

It is against this backdrop that the Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Governmen Area in Kaduna State, Mr. Yunana Markus Barde in an effort to ensure universal health-care coverage, has flagged Off third quarter immunization and vaccination campaigns for Polio, Rota-virus and COVID-19 at Ungwar Fari, Nikyob Chiefdom, Jema’a Local Governmen Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria.

He explained that, the vaccination and immunization programme were targeted at ensuring effective health-care delivery for children under- five years across the twelve political wards of jema’a local government, so as to eradicate early child-related illnesses.

According to Yunana Barde, his administration would continue to give priority attention to health Care programs to ensure universal access to vaccines which is a critical entry point for universal healthcare services in the country.

While acknowledging the effort of the World Health Organization, WHO, Federal and State governments commitment in the area of health Care delivery, Barde posited that immunization is a partway through which children and families are brought into contact with health systems, that provided an avenue for the delivery of other basic health services, and lay the foundation for primary health Care for children.

He commended mothers for complying to the Programme, and urged them to always present their children for immunization to complement Government’s strategies inaugurated to assist citizens especially in the area of health Care delivery systems at the grass-root for sustainable development.

Responding, the Chief of Kaninkon (Nikyob) Chiefdom, HRH.Mallam Tanko Tete, represented by a District Head Mr. Williams Gimba encouraged mothers to always present their children for immunization, pointing out that, all the vaccines are effective, safe and free, that offer an opportunity for children within six to fourteen weeks to be protected against Rota-virus.
