Eagle Square the venue of the Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day Anniversary is filled to capacity with the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari to commemorate the Day.

Dignitaries comprising the Diplomatic Corps, government functionaries, the business community and the public are in attendance.

The President has already inspected the guard of honour amids cheers from the crowd and is being followed by military and paramilitary march past.

The Eagle Square is looking colorful in national colours as the variety of uniforms of the various formations of the military and the paramilitary added to the peacock looks of the colour party.

In attendance include the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari; former President Goodluck Jonathan; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Earlier, in his last Independence Day broadcast message, the President said that he would leave a legacy of free and fair elections in the country.
